The Benefits Of Booking Travel In Advance

air-travel If you are planning a trip or vacation then you should always book your flight and airport transfer service well in advance. There was a study conducted that showed that the majority of people in the world only book their travel around seven days before they were due to fly out. When it came to gender, the ladies would book their travel a few days before the men would. There are many reasons for this anomaly but most would agree that life today is faster paced and hectic than it was in our parent’s time. While mom and dad may have stayed with their jobs their entire life, today’s employee never knows when they’ll be in the market for a new job, let alone worrying about a vacation. Below are some benefits of booking travel in advance when you can.

How Far in Advance Can You Book a Flight?

Believe it or not, there is a law that states an airline can only book flights three hundred and thirty days in advance, no longer. So if you have a family reunion in two years you’ll have to wait until it’s about a year out before you can book the flight. Even with this law, some airlines do have other restrictions of their own and may only offer flights six months in advance so you’ll need to check your preferred carrier’s timeline for booking flights. Keep in mind that this goes for your return flight so while you may not be able to book that far in advance, you don’t have to wait until a week before your trip. One of the benefits of this type of booking is that your tickets will be refundable just in case anything does happen and you need to change your travel plans.

The Best Time to Book Your Flight for a Good Price

One of the most surprising aspects of booking a flight is that you’ll get pretty much the same price booking a month in advance as you would booking six months in advance. With booking five weeks in advance actually offered better prices on some airlines. The issue can be more about availability rather than the price however. While the prices are comparable as long as you are booking a month out, there may be a lack of seating on the flights. This is particularly true during peak flying times such as during the holidays or in the summer months when most people are traveling.

Booking Airport Transfer Services

One thing most people forget to book is airport transfer services from the airport to their destination hotel. While many companies offer transfer services between airports, you want to book a company that you trust to be there for you when you arrive. You should book this service at the same time that you book your flight so you have all the information right in front of you. Again, during peak travel times, this is even more vital.

It can be hard to know just what you’ll be doing six weeks from now let alone six months, but if you are traveling, it is always a great idea to make all your travel plans well in advance rather than waiting for the last minute!
